Allergy

The Department of Paediatric Allergy at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital provides a secondary allergy service for children with common allergic symptoms, a rapid access service for patients referred from the Alder Hey A&E dept and a tertiary referral centre for evaluation of children with complicated allergic conditions such as multiple food allergies, chronic urticarial, bee and wasp allergy and drug allergy.

We are a multidisciplinary team currently comprising two allergy specialists, 4 paediatricians with a special interest in allergy, 1 Consultant Nurse and one Allergy Associate Nurse Specialist.  

Outpatients are seen in the B1 outpatient clinic while Day patients are seen in D2.

Investigations and services provided by our department include;

·         Skin prick testing

·         IgE testing and interpretation

·         Epipen training

·         Food challenges to diagnose or exclude food allergy,

·         Drug challenges

·         Insect and Venom allergy evaluation

·         Evaluation for immunotherapy
