NHS Definition
'A framework through which NHS organisations are accountable for
continuously improving the quality of their services and safeguarding
high standards of care by creating an environment in which excellence
in clinical care will flourish'.
The aim of the National Quality Strategy is:
- To provide an NHS that continually improves the overall standard
of clinical Care
- Reduces variations of outcomes of , and access to, services
- Ensures that clinical decisions are based on the most up to
date evidence of what is known to be effective
Organisations like Alder Hey must demonstrate
- An open and participative culture in which education, research
and sharing of good practice are valued.
- A commitment to quality ( shared by staff and managers)
- Active working with patients, users, carers and the public
- Monitored local standards
