The Undergraduate Medical Education team at Alder Hey supports medical undergraduates in training and provides an integrated teaching programme in the speciality of Paediatrics .  The majority of medical ‘student trainees’  are from Liverpool University  and Oxford University along with other ‘visiting/elective trainees from other medical schools in the UK and Overseas.

Our vision is to offer students the highest standards of undergraduate medical education in order that undergraduate and postgraduate training is seamless, enabling the provision of high level care for  Paediatric patients.

All Medical Student attachments must be organized via the Undergraduate Office to fulfill the necessary Employer/Employee Liability requirements and to ensure that students who attend Alder Hey for training achieve their full potential.

Please email  Jean Maguire, Undergraduate Administrator for further details.

Electives must not be part of your formal training in Paediatrics , and all students are usually required to have completed their formal paediatric training at their Medical School.

Electives last  4- 5 weeks and due to the high demand we recommend applying a year in advance.   We are currently fully booked to September 2013.

Our Team aims to ensure all students experience a diverse range of learning opportunities within high quality learning environments. We work closely with trust staff, academic and local education partners in order to ensure learners are fully supported during their placements.
