Communic8 ‘your voice, your views’
(Children and Young Peoples Council)
Communic8 is a group of young people who work with the hospital to develop and improve services.
The Council has determined the key points of its Constitution. Its purpose is:
- To be a voice for children and young people attending Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust
- To work in partnership with staff to make changes which will make Alder Hey a better place
Communic8 wants to:
- Make sure the hospital listens to children
- Find out what other children and young people think and want
- Think of new ideas for the hospital
- Talk to the people who make decisions
Communic8 states that members should be:
- Children and young people aged between 10–19 who have an interest in improving the hospital
- A mix of boys and girls
- Children and young people who:
- Can share ideas
- Are committed and responsible
- Listen to each other
- Enjoy Alder Hey – they can see the good as well as areas that could be improved
- Like to have fun
Council members have been involved in the recruitment of very senior managers within the Trust and found this a great opportunity to see how the Trust works.
The Council has worked with the local youth service to secure funding for some equipment for a room for the use of young people. Also, it arranged for the youth service bus to visit the Trust and we plan for this to come again soon.
Communic8 has social evenings out which members choose and these are a great opportunity to have fun.
The Council meets once a month within the hospital site on a weekday after school. The Council has an elected Chair.
