Alder Hey Imagine Appeal is hosting their annual celebrity cooking challenge ‘Under Starters Orders’ in Hanover Street Social on Wednesday 11 th April to raise money for Alder Hey. Celebrities, including comedian Stan Boardman, Alex Fletcher from Hollyoaks and Suzanne Collins formerly from Brookside, will compete in the kitchen alongside Desperate Scousewives cast members Amanda Harrington, Jaiden Michael and Debbie O’Toole to create the perfect menu. The overall winning team will be decided by the event’s guests including Imagine Patrons gymnast Beth Tweddle and champion jockey AP McCoy.
Meanwhile Chanelle McCoy, the ‘first lady’ of horse racing, married to AP McCoy, is taking on Channel 4 Racing presenter Emma Spencer in a celebrity cocktail making challenge. The girls will compete behind the bar to make the best cocktail and all money raised from the challenge will go straight to the charity.
There will also be an exclusive live auction and the evening will be hosted by Andrew Lancel from Coronation Street.
Under Starters Orders launches Alder Hey Imagine Appeal’s Grand National fundraising as the official charity of the John Smith’s Grand National for the seventh year running.
Alder Hey Imagine Appeal will be challenging racegoers at Aintree on Liverpool Day, 12 th April to break a World Record with the John Smith’s World’s Biggest Pub Quiz. On Ladies Day, top jockeys will make their annual visit to Alder Hey’s cancer ward, and the first televised race on Friday 13 th will see the jockeys wearing Alder Hey Imagine Appeal branded silks for the ‘Tangle Teezer Top Novices Hurdle’.
