Notice of Election for Council of Governors at Alder Hey
Dates of Future Meetings
The interests of our members and the many partner organisations with which we work are represented by the Council of Governors.
The Council of Governors work alongside the Board of Directors ensuring that the views of members are incorporated into the Trust’s future plans. They have several other responsibilities which include:
- Appoint/remove the Chair and other Non-Executive Directors of our Trust and make sure that suitable replacements are found and appointed.
- To set the pay levels for the Chair and Non-Executive Directors.
- To approve the appointment of the Chief Executive.
- Appoint/remove the Trust’s financial auditor.
- Receive the Trust’s annual report and accounts.
- Be consulted by the Board of Directors about the development of plans for the Trust and significant changes to health care services.
- Encouraging honest and open dialogue with members and to set up ways to seek their opinions.
- Make sure the Trust does what it says it is going to do.
To ensure all our Members views are represented we have a total of 36 Governors representing all of our member constituencies across the geographical boundaries which we serve.
The Council is made up as follows:
- 9 from the public constituency.
- 4 patients (aged between 16 and 19 from the patient, parent and carer constituency).
- 6 parents or carers from the patient, parent and carer constituency.
- 6 from the staff constituency.
- 11 appointed by partner organisations.
All except the appointed Governors are elected by the constituencies that they represent. Members over the age of 16 can stand to be a Governor. The next elections are planned for the summer of 2011.
